Organization Background:
Weekend-Adventures(W-A) is a fiscally sponsored program of the Social Good Fund that works to help kids, living in the Tenderloin, see themselves beyond their neighborhood by leading culturally relevant learning, fun experiences in the arts, sciences and the outdoors. Since 2018 we’ve been tirelessly building community. The program is led by two staff members, and funded by a number of individuals and foundations. We also have several partnerships throughout the bay area that makes our program succeed. We operate out in the world, so this isn’t the typical youth program, so every weekend we’re in session we have a planned trip. Lastly, we’ve grown tremendously from serving 5 families in 2020 to 16 by Spring 2022.
Position Summary:
This is a seasonal part-time 6 month position. This role is for someone who is passionate about the health and well-being of kids, especially those who are born into marginalized communities. This is a growth oriented role to learn, lead and engage with a diverse group of people. It requires someone who is gentle and tough all while maintaining healthy boundaries with participants. We are not a stationary program, so the role requires that you are able to be flexible with where and how you work. There will be one day of remote work Monday through Friday and Saturday is direct work with our team and participants. Saturday is the only mandatory work day. Our trips include, but not limited to; hiking, sailing and exploring the city’s museums and music scene.

Responsibilities:
- Lead weekend trips that includes facilitating group circles(restorative and reflective)
- Provide leadership, energy and support while constantly assessing dynamics of the W-A group
- Provide excellent customer service to families when needed
- Maintain safe environments for all W-A attendees
- Drive W-A attendees to events
- Prepare pre/post trip documentations
- Support other program operations as needed
- Perform COVID-19 health and safety screenings for every child
- Write incident reports when needed
- Attend community events when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year working experience with youth/children
- Leadership experience with youth groups
- Conflict resolution and management skills specifically with a school or youth organization
- Ability to participate in outdoor activities, i.e. hiking, fishing, sailing, walking
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to meet changing needs and demands while balancing multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively on a team, with an openness to feedback and a desire to grow professionally Strong organization skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively with kids/youth and families
- Preferred Bi-lingual in Spanish, but not required
- Maintains valid CA drivers license
Requirements:
- Pass a background check and have a clean driving record.
- Working knowledge of restorative justice practices (we will also have a group training)
- Patient and cool tempered
- Flexible schedule (Saturday is Required other days flexible)
- First-aid/CPR training, (we will provide this training)

Weekend-Adventures(W-A) is a fiscally sponsored program of the Social Good Fund that works to help kids see themselves beyond their neighborhood by leading culturally relevant learning, fun experiences in the arts, sciences and the outdoors. Since 2018 we’ve been operating with a wonderful small group of volunteers. When the pandemic hit, we were left with two truths: 1. people were scared and isolated and 2. We had not been around long enough to build trust in the community.
Committed to not allowing our youth to wither away indoors, Weekend-Adventures’ got a small makeover, and focused solely on the outdoor adventures. In the fall of 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic, we launched our first hiking series with 5 families. The following year, we were serving 9 families, and today we have 16 families enrolled in our program.
Our programs operate out in the world providing hands-on experiences that engage, encourage and enliven our youth. With the world reopening its doors, it’s time for us to dive back into our entire mission and create and deliver a stellar program that delivers programming in the arts, sciences and the outdoors. We are daring to be the youth development program that goes beyond the neighborhood. We know that every persons’ development is part environment and part nurture. The kids we serve live in the Tenderloin neighborhood in San Francisco. We believe that these young humans deserve to have regular time away from the toxicity of the Tenderloin. They need to feel the love that comes from each adult who goes above and beyond to provide adventures that take them beyond their neighborhood.

Position/Role Description:
W-A is looking for an experienced Program Manager who has the skills necessary to further the development of our growing programs. The Program Manager oversees the development and delivery of programs throughout the year.
Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for all program operations including, but not limited to: curriculum/program development, volunteer recruitment and management, and ensuring that we are meeting our intended outcomes according to our program's theory of change. You understand the needs of communities experiencing poverty. You're emotionally intelligent and mentally balanced. This role requires that you have a high level of integrity. The typical work week is Tuesday through Saturday and is 80% remote.
Some of your personal qualities include being approachable, focused, compassionate and stern, and you can build and sustain effective relationships. Lastly, you welcome growth and have an entrepreneurial mindset.

- Develops and designs curriculum for multiple age groups that’s aligned with our mission and vision
- Designs school-age curriculum and lessons with a focus on equity and inclusion
- Coordinates and facilitates weekend programs throughout the fiscal year
- Develops and implements annual program goals, work plans and end of year reporting
- Collects and synthesizes program data to be used for our annual reports, on-going outreach to ensure that our outcomes are aligned with program goals, and make necessary adjustments when needed
- Develop tools that enhances our data collection
- Develops strategy to recruit youth from marginalized communities, which include Black, Indigenous and people of color, LGBTQ youth, low-income families or have barriers that traditionally prevent them from participating in opportunities
- Tracks statistics such as attendance, participant-hours, demographics
- Coordinates outreach and recruitment for programs
- Manages transportation support for program participants
- Partners with the Executive Director to develop grantmaking strategies, identify funding priorities and review grant proposals thoroughly to ensure alignment of needs and Weekend-Adventures
- Establishes and maintains relationships/partnerships with the community, organizations, fiscal sponsors, funders, and other key stakeholders
- Supervises program staff and volunteers
- Assist with planning of annual events
- Maintains a healthy and respectful relationship with participants parents and guardians and provide all needed communication in a timely manner
- Supervises and mentors up to 20 youth
- Creates and manages communications for our social media and outreach materials via website material, brochures, images, videos, and other promotional material
- Oversees annual program expense budgets (typically $30,000-100,000)
- Responsible for driving 10 passenger vans for programs. This includes being able to secure and maintain the appropriate California Driver's License and necessary endorsements
Skills:
- Proven ability to develop youth program curriculum
- Three years of experience in youth leadership development, program delivery
- Bi-lingual; English and Spanish, Mandarin and/or Arabic (not required, but a Super +)
- Ability to facilitate programs and build relationships with youth/community
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered and valued
- Strong group management skills and ability to build a community with participants
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to take direction and feedback in a constructive manner
- Able to work a flexible work schedule including weekends and remotely
- Proficiency level with G-Suite and Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mailchimp, adobe, accounting/HRIS software and Flipcause
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid CA Driver’s License, with clean record
- CPR and First Aid certification- offered by us through Red cross assist upon hire
